The fair tourism : a tool for developpment
Fair tourism is based on the principles of fair trade.
The tourism operators are then in direct partnership with the local communities, who are paid fairly and participate directly in the development of the management of stays. Their specific aim is to ensure that communities living on the tourist grounds share a fair share of the income it generates, and reconcile tourism with their sustainable development.
In concrete terms, this covers the respect of a set of criteria aimed at respecting the inhabitants and their way of life, at a meeting between tourists and these inhabitants, at the sustainability of progress.
