Nature and Culture

Day 1

Brussels-Lilongwe flight  with Ethiopian Airline.

Arrival next morning.

Day 2

Reception at Lilongwe airport and transfert to your hotel - Korea Garden Lodge.

Days 3 and 4 - Dezda et Liwonde National Park

Departure for the Liwonde National Park (8:00 am) in the valley of the Shire River. We’ll stop on the way for a visit of an exceptional artisan pottery in Dedza.

In Liwonde park, we propose you a boat trip on the river in order to observe the numerous birds, but also antelopes and elephants that come to drink. The hippopotamuses and crocodiles will also impress you as we continue our boat trip. You can also visit the park on foot or by car, of course in the hope of meeting one of the big animals or a rhino

Days 5 and 6 - Cape Mac Lear

Departure at 8:00 am for Cape Mc Lear where another boat trip awaits you. You are given the opportunity to swim in the crystal clear waters of the lake, admiring the coloured Cichlids near the rocks or just take the time to enjoy the sandy beach. Your first day of relaxation awaits you on the 6th day.

Days 7 and 8 - Mua Mission et Kuti Wildlife Reserve

We leave at 8:00 am for the Mua Mission where we will visit a museum dedicated to the Chewa culture as well as an art gallery that only exposes pieces made by local artists. After our lunch break, we move on to the Kuti Wildlife Reserve, one of the smallest reserves in Malawi. You can actually meet with the zebras between the huts in the camp. Early next morning (around 6h30am) we’ll make a little tour in the reserve to encounter the numerous antelopes that live here.

After lunch, we take the road for Nkata Bay.

Day 9 - Nkata Bay

Nkata Bay is the ideal place to relax. You can spend all day freely making a tour amidst craft shops, strolling near the lake, visiting the harbour, … The lodge also proposes diving and snorkelling excursions (not included in our price).

Days 10,11 and 12 - Beach along the Malawi Lake

We leave Nkata Bay at 8am and head for Chilumba in the North of Malawi for a relaxing stay at the beach. The fin sand will welcome you for the next 3 days before the great final of your safari.

If you are rather interested in something different than dolce farniente, the lodge offers different activities and visits (not included in our price).

Day 13 - Livingstonia

We leave the lodge and take you to the flanks of the Nyika plateau where you’ll discover Livingstonia, a little village loaded with history, and state university. After our breakfast in a small local restaurant we’ll go to the Manchewe Falls and discover their legends.

Days 14 and 15 - Vwaza Marsh Wildlife Reserve

After our last breakfast near the banks of the fabulous Malawi lake it is time to head for the Vwaza Marsh Wildlife Reserve. On our road, we’ll take the time to stop at Mzuzu to enjoy the colourful grand market. We’ll also take lunch here in a little local restaurant before continuing our way to the Reserve.

In the early morning hours, a two – three hour walk around the lake at Vwaza awaits you, enabling you to approach the hippos. If fortune smiles upon us, we may even admire a group of elephants taking their bath.

For the most courageous, getting up before sunrise gives you the unique opportunity to observe the hippos regaining the water after a night grazing in the meadows.

Days 16,17 and 18 - Kasungu National Park

We leave immediately after breakfast and head for Kasungu National Park. As soon as we finished our settlement we’ll take you to the heights of the Black Rock in order to admire the splendid sunset over the savannah.

Early morning on the second day, a walk at the lake gives you another occasion to observe antelopes, hippos, elephants, … Around 10am, we leave for the Iron Mountains, wonderful hills that will astonish you with their breath taking landscapes. We’ll also discover traces of Malawi’s iron age. At 6pm it’ll be time to return because there’s a delicious meal waiting for us at the restaurant of Lufipa Lodge.

The last morning of this safari is for resting. We’ll leave around 1pm for Lilongwe where we’ll spend the evening in the Korean Garden Lodge

Day 19

Transfer to Lilongwe Airport – flight back to Brussels with Ethiopian Airlines. Arrival the next morning.

Prices and conditions

The price for this trip is 2350 € / person, excluding flight, for a group consisting of at least 4 people.

It can be organized from 2 people at an extra charge of 280 € / person.

This price includes :
